Fire Resistant Glass.
The trend for fire protection is definitely towards incorporating more
glass in new ways. There are many new product options available in addition
to wired glass. Specially toughened glasses and clear laminated glasses

Fire resistant glass is categorised in two ways although a third category will soon be introduced as a new European standard. These are insulated fire glass and non-insulated (also known as “integrity only” fire glass.)

of contruction to restrict the spread of fire, smoke and combustion gases
from the fire side to the non-fire side of the element.
* Insulation is described as: The ability of an element
of construction to restrict the transfer of heat from the fire side to
the non-fire side of the element.
Fire resistant glass is suitable for use in stairwells, computer rooms, evacuation routes in large office buildings, hospitals, shopping centres and other heat sensitive areas. Extremely high temperatures transferring through the glass can be just as devastating as the fire itself.
